Do you put your hay in any kind of container in the guineas cage? I just have some piled in a corner at the moment (I sweep up leftovers and put fresh hay in everyday) but I feel like I should be putting in some kind of container...
I have a hay rack for the posh expensive stuff and just a big pile of farm hay for them to eat and play in which I also sweap out and change each day. It's much more fun if you can popcorn in it!
I just put a pile of the cheaper hay in the cages. For the nicer hay, I have these metal ball things that you can stuff with hay. I'll put up a picture..
I used to have one of those wire balls... I got sick of filling it every 15 minutes because sweets just wanted it on the floor to lay and play in rolleyes... I now own a hay rack and he loves it. I'll try and get a picture up later.
Mine have theirs on the floor, I have three so use quite abit so have lots of hay stored lol!
They sleep in it, and eat it too, they all flatten it so in the evening i just fluff it back up and then give them new hay every other day, and then clean them every week.
I just put it all in their hutch, so it totally covers the floor. They love burrowing in it hehe, I've tried them with hay racks when they where in their cages, but they never bothered with it.
I have three hay racks stuffed full of hay - so there is plenty and never any squabbling over the rack space. I cant have mine run over the hay as (daft as it sounds) being allergic to hay I would react to the pigs touching them if they have been on the hay.
I put the hay in the hay balls and some on the floor. They like to eat it off the floor, but I always put it in the hay ball too because the stuff on the floor is guaranteed to get defecated on lol
I keep mine in a corner litter tray. It gets completely changed and cleaned once a day as they are very fond of sleeping in it but I usually top their hay up in the morning and when I come home for lunch.
