I was getting the boys run ready this morning and they all stood in the top part of the hutch wheeeeeeeeeeking away at me to hurry up!

They knew all the noises which meant the run was ready to go out in and popcorn about in!

Today their run looks like this:

The food corner:

Sharon: Lovely idea, and simple, a box with a hole in one side and one on the top. I do believe I will copy that; my mind has run linear, but a hole in the top of something would give Redemption more to think about. He is reaching the stage where he is taking his environment seriously rather than simply accepting what comes along. I hope you are feeling better very soon.

William&Keith: Why do you have barriers on the sides of the pen?

I am asking because if Red stays here, and he probably will, I will be building an outside run, and I want to do it right. I have cardboard sides on the dog crate he is in right now, but that is only because it prevents him from backing up to the wire and dropping "raisins" all over the workbench and causing me to have to pull that heavy cage out and clean behind it.

We live on a hill which runs into another hill so our grass is VERY uneven. When you put the run on the grass there is usually a hole in it somewhere, the barriers are there just to block any gaps that may have appeared :)

Every time i see the title of this thread i think of poo....

that is all....

Our run is made from 8 individual panels, so we can have it pretty much any shape I want!

This is as it was it over the weekend though. It has no lid, so they aren't left on their own ;)

p.s. there are six little piggles in here :)

My Piggies and Foster Piggies on the lawn
Please tell me about your configurable panels. Are they the same as in Little Piggles's post? I can get that same 8-panel setup here at the farm supply store. Or did your family take cages like Red's apart and use the individual panels? I can do that, too. What I see in your pictures is very do-able for me.

The metal runs I use are these and are not the same as in Little Piggles, the run comes with a lid. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hutches_cages/runs_fencing/pens_with_racks/35638

The panels arn't really configurable although some people have extended the run by adding another one on the end and pulling the ends up to extend it.. one run measures about 7ft by 3 and half foot.
This pic is 3 runs placed close together for my foster piggies, some of which were single neutered boars waiting for their forever home so I like to give them company with each other through the bars :)

Ooh, some lovely runs out there and beautiful piggies - wish we had decent weather more often for months so permanent runs could be in place. We have three 6ftx4ft wooden runs for our lot as they live separately but would love to do something on the lines of a huge adventure/assault course :(|) that could be left out all year round.

This is the only piccy of my runs at the minute....

They are:
1: 5ft x 2.5ft
2: 4ft x 2ft
3: 3ft x 3ft

They usually have a few more toys and hideys in than what's in the picture :).

I've not got a picture of them in it for some reason but this is mine, it's 7x8ft. They absolutely love zooming around in it!

ETA: just so you know they're never in it without supervision due to the lack of roof (we are in the process of constructing one!)

What did you use to make it, i would like something more permanent but still moveable as mine chomp loads of grass

I cheated really! I found the initial run (the bit that looks good!) for sale at a local garden center. I think it was 7x4 and folding. So we got that for about £70 and then for about £30 we got sheets of wood and some hinges and bolts. Took the original run apart and attached the sheets of wood and viola.

It wasn't the most technical process but for £100 I've got a huge run, that folds, can be moved around and is loved by all the animals!

This is mine, plenty of space for them to run wild. I also have a roll of chicken wire that rolls across the top for when it's unattended. Betty is keeping the pen warm whilst the piggies have their breakfast, then she gets evicted to allow the piggies to play.

This is my run in it's "square" format, with Spud in (RIP)

Then, it broke, and came in half....best thing thats ever happened to it, now I can make it huuuuuge as I can use the garden wall to act as a side of the run :)

They're never left unattended which is why it's ok that it doesnt have a lid :)
