In recent months, Oreo has this chirping sound during the day and a couple of times in the midnight. It's like a bird singing. What does that mean?

I took a video but the file is too large (13.5MB) and not able to upload. Sorry.

Chirping is a very rare sound guinea pigs make. We're still not sure exactly what it means. It's kinda like they're in a trance.

It's believed they do it cause they are frightened and are trying to mimic a bird to fool the animal trying to eat them...

They (Oreo & CoCo) have been living in the same environment for over 4 years now. Only in recent months Oreo has been chirping for half a dozen times now. We don't aware of changes or something that can frighten her.

Hmmm never heard that one so not sure..but doesn't sound good

I know I said this in another thread but it seems female guinea pigs chirp far more often than male guinea pigs.

No one knows... they sound just like little birds. I've heard some of my past pigs do it a couple of times. The first time I thought a bird got into the chimney! Apparently it's a sound whose purpose is really not known. Other guinea pigs certainly do take notice, though!
