I got one of my guinea pigs when he was a few months old and he is almost three years old. We are very close. Everytime I come downstairs he comes to greet me and jumps into my arms. When I let him out to run he follows me and if I leave the pen area he looks for me. After a few minutes he is usually okay. But if I sit in there he sits near by me or runs around me. Sometimes I notice I am near him and he starts to purr and sway his hips. I thought male guinea pigs did this to female guinea pigs? Does my guinea pig think I am a guinea pig? I was wondering what this behavior to me means? He is very sweet and loving, is he just showing that? Just wondering.

Thank you,
Ksiusha

Hi there, I'm new to guinea pigs so I'm not sure what he's doing. I know when rabbits run arouind someone and making a soft honk thats them "courting" the person. My rabbit used to do this to me all the time. Is your piggie neutered?
Hope someone can be of some help! :)

he luvs is mummy i too have some loving boys floo especially waits by the door for me every morning and if I dont tickle him under his chin he goes beserk, he also pushes my hand away if i stroke his cage mate albie, he snuggles down my top when cuddled and purrs when hes held, he def knows I'm his mummy when i first got him he was a frightened tiny little babe but a leg prob ment lots of TLC when he recovered he was hooked on mummys loving, enjoy it it means hes a happy piggy and we are both very privilidged,

yer i have two girls and wilson always does that to cindy. its funny. sometimes when they are playing on the floor wilson will stop and stay sill and just stare at me... its funny! lol

As said by Michelle, you're his mummy and he loves you, he's just 'talking' to you, feel good as this means you're bonded with your furbaby.

Welcome and what's your little ones name?

Aww I thought that is what it meant. He even licks my nose or my fingers! Does anybody know what this means? On a Russian website it said they do this because they are kissing and they love you. He is so funny. :)His name is Shura(or Shurik or Shurochka as I call him). He is very loving... however the other guinea pig doesn't do this. He was in a shelter and we got him at 1 year 8 months. But he is sweet too and if I'm holding Shura and walking away to get a napkin he HAS to come along and tries to jump in my arms. Already we've had him for 8 months and he jumps into my arms and wants to be held. It's adorable. Thank you all for your help :)

(My other ones name is Hriusha)

Aww! That is adorable! I wish my piggies would do that... lucky you haha! And what cute names too!

That sounds so cute! I hope that my guinea pigs will do that to me someday!
