I've brought my piggies in for the winter they are in a cage its in between a nero 3 and a nero 4, its as wide as nero 4 but not as long.
I really feel this cage isn't big enough or 2 piggies :( I really want to get something bigger them.
I'm sure the c & c grids will be great for them I'd put them in the conservatory so I would like a 4x3 maybe a bit bigger, I know the screw fix sell the grids but I'm a bit confused about what to put on the bottom on the grids what do you all use ?
How often do you clean the home out ? at the moment I clean the piggies out everyday maybe twice I find they can smell a bit if I leave it any longer..

Have a look at www.cavycages.com for ideas on how to make the cages. I have recently purchased correx from Travis Perkins (branches nationwide). They call it `cordex`. You make it up like a box and pop it into the made up grid cages and leave 6 inches all the way round. This stops hay etc from falling out and making a mess :)
I have posted some pics of mine under housing..."bigger and better cages"

i used correx for the base of mine.

ive been spot cleaning the cage every 1-2 days, and ill give it a proper clean at the end of th week. i found it smells less then regular indoor cgaes, (dunno why, maybe cos they spread it out more!)

but ive found it easier to clean too, even if it does use a lot of bedding ;D

I've just got lino at the minute. I phoned my local Travis Perkins and they don't stock Correx. So, I phoned a local sign printing company and asked them if they'd sell me some plain sheets of it and they have agreed, so I'm hopefully picking it up tommorrow.

I've been to Travis Perkins for Correx and I've tried a few other building places no one knows what it is >:( I've made up a cage for them out of the piggie's run I was hoping to put them in it tonight bt I have nothing for the floor..

TP call it cordex, not correx - did you ask for that? :)

Yes I called it Cordex and Correx but they said they have never heard of it before..

PerfectPiggies- I described it to them and they still said they don't stock it.

Karen- Have you tryed sign printing companys? As an emerencgy measure last night when I picked up 5 pigs, I have just put lino on the floor and covered it with towels.

Thats strange because my OH got 2 sheets in TP on Tuesday :-\

do you have the barcode number? Maybe if you do, others can give it so stores can see details of the product? :)

There is no barcode on it, but underneath it says: 2mm/270 correx then cordek (sorry I think I called it cordex) then a phone number and website www.cordek.com
Possibly not all branches of Travis Perkins do it but my OH got it in the first one he went to.

Yes that would do fine for the base and then you could line that with newspaper and towels/fleece :)

Does this look okay ? I've got vetbed to put down yet . is there anything else I could put in there?

I dont think you need vetbed in there as well as you have lots of hay. Just keep an eye that they dont eat the plastic though, perhaps you could have the newspaper coming up the sides or cardboard incase they chew it!

That looks good ! O0 Like lavenderjade said just make sure they dont eat the plastic ?
