Hi all!

I would like to ask anybody who know what is the BESTTT food for my 1 month old piggie Coffee?
She is so small size and i wanna make her grow bigger and fatter :smitten: :smitten:
doesn't want to feel that she's so small size and vulnerable :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

This is the picture of her.. i know she's reallie small lol~ the vet was saying the pet shop shouldn't sell piggies at such a young age! true true.. i agree with the vet at this point.. they are really so vulnerable. and easily sick so requires lots of attention.. to see the poops, drinking/eating well or not etc. Sorry for the 2nd pic.. lots of poops all around lol.

currently i'm giving her pellets and timothy hays.. don't really dare to give her eat any fresh vege YET becos the vet says too early for her. and lately she got diahorrea.. not so sure WHY but i think its the teething thingie that she bites? (can be seen on pic 2)

omg she is tiny! far too small to be sold in a pet shop! is there anyway you can make a compalint? the poor little girl

awwwwwwwww poor little darling :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
sorry i can't help i'm sure somebody will on a bit later and they can help you O0 :smitten:

omg look ..................

MINI HAVING A DRINK :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I don't know =(
But the pet shop is selling them and most of them are 3 weeks old. But the pet shop lady is a nice lady boss though.. a pet lover (can sense it when u talk to her) but hmmm... so.. i'm not sure why she's selling piggies which are soooo small ? ? ? ?

my friend who got 4 piggies told me that i can get Oxbow Cavy Performance for her to eat... what do u all think?
Btw i removed all teething products.. afraid they are the ones which give my coffee bad diahorrea =(

Shes wayyyyyy too small to be sold >:( >:( >:(

You can feed her veggies but just in tiny portions O0

Pellets/nuggets are the best :D Also plenty of hay :)

She's lovely. She is just so tiny. She shouldn't have been sold, but the women obviously knew that she was weaned and was happy in the fact that she knew you would take great care of her. boys are taken away at 3 weeks (but not sold) so i wouldnt be to concerned with her. just keep doing what your doing and she'll be fine. x

I just bought Oxbow Cavy Performance (For Small GP)..

i guess i will need to mix this new Oxbow pellets with the previous old 1 right?
The current pellets i'm feeding them.. not sure whats the brand.. but i believe Oxbow would be a good brand for piggies.. since i saw so many raves in this forum and guinea lynx forum too =)

yeh mix it in an over a few days put less and less of the pellets your using now into the feed. x

That piggy should absolutely not have been sold at 3 weeks. To be honest she doesn't even look 3 weeks old to me. Perhaps 1 or 2. There is far more to removing a young pig from its mother than just seeing if it's nursing or not. If left with their mother the female babies will continue to nurse for many weeks if the mother allows them to. I find it very unlikely a 3 week old sow would have stopped nursing - chances are you were just told this to make a sale. Baby guinea pigs also learn about veggies to eat from their parents, which is an ongoing thing.

The mineral stone you can get rid of, they're not any good. Piggies don't need them any more than we do.

The chances are she'll pick at the Oxbow pellets, they seem to taste better to pigs! If she does this, just cut out the other pellets. Cavy performance is the absolute best pellet you can give her. Introduce fresh veggies in small quantities and very slowly. They start eating veggies from birth normally so a tiny bit will do her no harm and since she no longer has her mother to learn from you'll need to help her.

Weigh her daily, check she's putting on weight. If she doesn't put on weight you might want to think about a small supplementary handfeed of Critical Care from a spoon.

Thanksss daftscotslass!

So you think she's only 1-2weeks old?

Yea i went to the vet last monday and she's only weighing 90g! Another forumer mentioned to me that her piggie isn't that light at 3 weeks old.. so i guess may be you are right!
But i've read that there's nothing much i can do (eg give them some milk or something) to substitute the nursing process right?

I just want coffee to grow healthily =)
Yuppp already bought Cavy performance and i'm slowly inter-changing it.
The forumers and also my own vet recommend me to feed my piggie chewable Vitamin C for now (since she don't advise them eating vegge so early.. to prevent Diahorrea).

And yupp, they are eating it :smitten:

90g... wow. Most pups weigh more than that when they're born. There's not much you can do about the nursing (there's no milk replacer suitable for piggies) but you can offer her Critical Care or even mashed up Cavy Performance (with water) from a spoon. I take it from the piccy that she's drinking ok?

yep that was me ;D my piggy was born more than 100g and at 3 weeks old he weight 280 something grams so i guess you have areally tiny baby there :)

Yuppp she's drinking well.. and eating a lot of timothy hays and also pellets (she's always sitting on top of the bowl and eating).

Yea i guess my piggie is really a small small baby =(
She got diahorrea a few days ago after biting the teething stuff.. so i'm so worried and removed all of them.
now she's back to normal and running pop-corning around.

drinking a lot and eating well~

What a sweetie :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: but far too little to leave mum

yeaaa~~~
I jus weigh coffee just now.. she's still 100g! hmmm.. am i too impatient?
She did grow a little compared to 1 week ago but I'm interested to know the weight that i should expect to see in 1 week's time?

would it be like addition +50g or its gradually increasing per grams?
