what food is best?

If you mean dried food I use Burgess Excell nuggets. A complete food is ideal as you can be sure on them getting all the nutrients unlike with a muesli were they pick out bits they like.

They will need unlimited access to hay and fresh water at all times.

They will also need two handfuls of fresh vegetables a day. Here is a link to help you choose which ones to give:

I give mine Burgess Excell too. Plus a good variety of fresh fruit & veg and loads of hay.
I get mine off the internet because I normally get a better deal, even with postage, than shops and fuel costs.
I get a big bale of hay from my local farm/horse/pet place for £3 as and when I need it. But I also use Burgess Excell hay in their hay rack.
Hope that helps....:)

i wish i could save a fortune as every time i go to warehouse i end up spending toooooooooo much lol, last time i went i spent £100 on my rats and cockatiel lol i do tend to go over the top some times lol gotta be done though hehehe

Just like everyone else has said, Burgess ! They do it in different flavours, like black current and oregano and then theres a mint one too, or theres the normal flavour, but as long as it's a nugget based food it's fine (: You can get it from most places !

Also don't forget to allow your piggies access to hay at all times and also daily veggies (:

I'm new to piggies too (haven't even got them yet, 9 days to go! XD)
I've been doing a lot of research on it and the best answers i can find is:
Excel for nuggets
Wagg for muesli
I plan to mix mine together as with hamsters i got nearly double their expected life so it's given me much confidence and they can be fussy with the muesli as long as the eat some nuggets.

The reason there fussy with museli is known as "selective feeding" the wagg is pretty pointless in being added on top as the nuggets hold everything they need. The museli type food has the same nutrients just in different bits instead of the same. Thats why it's so bad they pick different bits out because they don't get everything they need.

Adding the wagg will not help the health of your piggy and would probably just be an added cost when you could stick to burgess (:

It'll be cheaper actually as waggs so much cheaper and it'll last twice as long ;)

Thanks anyway i know it is more of a comfort as my hamster (i know they aren't hamster) lived until he was 5 and my other one was 4 1/2, I'll just go with what they prefer, i'm definitly taking them of P@H which they'll be on when i get them (gradually of course) as my nearest store in 10miles away. :)

I feed mine Science Selective pellets, just because they seem to prefer it over the other brands.
