Hiya
One of my guinea pigs, Skittles, is very skinny at the moment. I'm putting it down to having babies at such a young age(before i got her), and i was wondering what foods i should feed her that will fatten her up a bit? You can see the outline of her pelvis at the moment, and i know she is not ill, and i watch her eat, so i know she is eating.
Thanks :)

Additional pellets can promote weight gain along with extra veg and plenty of grass, for the latter two it's important to increase gradually so as not to cause bloating. For general weight gain (where the pig is not ill) I believe it's better to increase portions of the usual food so the weight gain is steady, rather than feeding a lot of fattening foods which may result in a rapid increase in weight but largely as a result of gaining fat. That's not to say you can't give her the odd extra of things like porridge oats as a treat. If you're particularly concerned about her weight then you could feed critical care sprinkled on moistened pellets (or wet veg).

I would not bank on empty calories, but just feed a little bit more of a good diet and offer unlimited pellets. Plenty of rich fresh spring grass once she has got used to it (too much too soon can cause diarrhea or even bloat) will count towards it, too.

Don't worry, she'll come right again! My Taffy did have a finger's width of sheer spine under her skin and NOTHING at all in the back under her folds of empty skin after her last (and most probably fourth) back-to-back pregnancy when I rehomed her and her last rescue born daughter. Taffy weighed less than 800g after her last pregnancy but is now a healthy 1200g at four years old.
