What fruits are safe for my pig?

Hi all.I am a new biggie owner. I have been reading a lot of conflicting advice about what to feed my biggie. I understand that pigs can't have food with seeds or dried corn, but have seen videos of people feeding their pigs strawberries and watermelon, both of which have seeds. Are these fruits ok for my Bubba? I don't want to feed him anything that will hurt his teeth. Thanks for your help. I am already in love with my pig

Fruits are a great treat for a guinea pig but I wouldnt give them fruit more than once a week. Fruits are more limited than vegetables because of their higher sugar content, overfeeding guinea pig fruits can lead to diabetes and so forth. Yes, just one. I know they do better in herds, but until our new park rules change in a few months, I can only have one.

Hi Lori,

On the topic of seeds in particular, I know some owners feed their pigs seedless watermelon and grapes, since those big, hard seeds could pose a cklhoking hazard. I believe strawberry seeds are tiny enough not to pose a problem however.

Also, mine enjoys orange peel, which makes a super convenient treat because he gets all the vitamin C without the risk of choking on seeds or stringy pulp. So (thoroughly washed) orange, lime, grapefruit, or apple peels can make awesome cavy snacks... But make sure to limit the citrus peel especially to avoid the formation of mouth sores due to acid.
