Hi I just recently joined here but have been asking a few things about cages and other stuff. I posted on one of the other threads that scooby had an abcess and had went to the vet and they had to pop it:)>>> He has now been given antibiotics and doesnt seem to be bothered still eating and drinking. I asked the vet did I need to seperate him from his friend s h a ggy and he said not unless s h a ggy started nipping at scoobys back but he wasn't bothered by it. Last night both boys where in the run I then brought them up and fed them and all was well. But this morning when passing the cage I noticed scooby sleeping outside the house but when I looked in s h a ggy wasn't moving8... I had to just pretend to my daughters he was sleeping until I took them to school. Since I have came home I have taken him out the cage and checked him over but there is no sign of any marks or anything that looks out of place. He was 5 and never suffered any illness does anyone think it could have been to do with scoobys back that caused this or is it just a coincidence that this happenend? I just feel really quilty that I never noticed anythinggrrrr their cage is in the hall outside our room door and I am not a heavy sleeper so I am sure if he had been upset during the night I would have heard him8...

(sorry it wont let me put his name together as it must be censored but he is called this because he is scruffy and it went well with scooby)

I'm very sorry to hear you've lost your beautiful boy.

It's very unlikely the Scooby's abscess had anything to do with his passing, as 5 is in the normal lifespan range it maybe that this was his time. No illness, no pain, just going to sleep - if only all passings could be as kind. It does leave us with a lot of unanswered questions though and that is difficult to deal with.

Hugs to you and Scooby

I am sorry - it happens quite often that piggy just doesn;t wake up without any previous sign of anything wrong. What bad timing!

Is Scooby eating and drinking again or do you have to hand feed him? Are you weighing him daily to make sure that he is eating enough? Please don't be dismayed to see Scooby withdraw into into himself; piggies grieve. Hopefully, he *** come out of it after a few days.

RIP ****gy

Hi wiebke scooby hasn't been up or down. He has been drinking and eating on his own and actually been doing really well with taken the anti biotics we have a follow up appointment on wednesday the vet weighed him but never told us to weigh do you think I should be? Tonight he looks really lost so I cleaned his cage out gave him a new fleece and then bath and now he's sitting with the kids playing on the floor. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes it means a lotx>>

Sorry to hear about Sh-aggy. Such a shame, it seems like it was just his time. Give Scooby lots of attention and cuddles and he'll be ok.

It's always a good idea to weigh your piggies at least once a week and note it down in a book, if they are ill daily weighing is recomended and can give you infomation on if their eating or not.

Once again sorry about Sh-aggy and I hope Scooby recovers from his abscess.

RIP Sh-aggy

Awwww... I'm sorry for your loss! I don't think it was related to Scooby's abscess... my vets have always said there is no need to separate out a pig with an abscess unless the other pigs are chewing at it or otherwise impeding healing. I think at age five, it was just a natural death and as you didn't hear anything, it seems like it was a peaceful way to go. So sorry! RIP S h a ggy!

Bless your little boy. I'm sorry for your loss. It was maybe just his time. So nice when they go just falling asleep. (though i know it doesnt make it any easier).
Rest in peace Sh a ggy. Popcorn free.

x.
