Junior Guinea Pig
My girl River used to be very demonstrative with her dominance and it was easy in this way to tell when she was in heat. Ever since we got our neutered husboar in July, I've seen no evidence in any way that she's gone into heat.
The other sow, Melody, started going into obvious heats, starting a "relationship" with Pratchett the first time she did so after we got him. But River still hasn't shown any behavior indicating she's gone into heat cycles like Melody.
River isn't aggressive anymore, which is amazing, but she and Pratchett don't do more than occasionally groom each other and I've seen nothing overtly sexual in their behavior since dominance was established by our big boy.
Anyone else have experience with a guinea pig like this? Do guinea pigs HAVE platonic relationships?
