Having just watched a documentary about Oliver Postgate I’ve realised where my love for piggies may have stemmed from. I loved the clangers as a small child and their lovability and unique sounds connected with me as do my piggies . I love all animals but particularly connected when I saw this programme 😁. I’m interested to know how others have found their love with their piggies 🤗

As far as getting piggies, I "caught the bug" from my daughter. She first got piggies almost a year ago. I fell in love with the little cuties and missed them terribly whenever my daughter traveled with them for weekends to her father's house so about 7 months ago I got my own herd of two. They are precious and now I can't imagine my life without them.

I had my first guinea pig, Goldie, as a child, then came Scamper & Pepi, Jinx and Patch.
Looking back we gave them the best care we knew how to give but nowhere near as good as we now know.
As an adult having piggies wasn’t intentional- I’d gone to get my nephew some hamster stuff as his Christmas present and there in PAH Adoption Centre were 2 red eyed white boars no-one wanted. So I came home with more than expected.
I was hooked, I found the forum eventually and learned so much about good care.
The rest is history and I am still totally besotted with these wonderful creatures

About 25 years ago (before the internet) I saw an article in the local paper about the RSPCA and how they had rescued 40+ piggies from a hoarder situation. DH and I had just bought our first home, and it had a shed at the back so I asked if I could get 2 piggies.
I have always loved animals, but didin't feel ready to commit to something like a dog, so piggies seemed like a good first adult pet.

I have just always been a rodent person. Some girls in my class were really into horses... I was really into mice. LOL! There's no real reason that I can put my finger on... just loved the really little guys for as long as I can remember. My first pet was a mouse at age nine. Over the years I had a lot of pocket pets... mice and hedgehogs for about 12 years. Now we have guinea pigs and hamsters. I love guinea pigs because to me they are a midpoint between a small animal and a dog or cat... they are a nice lap size, they live longer than most other rodents, they are interactive and social with each other and with the humans. I think they're the nicest, most docile of the small pets and I love that about them.
