A blackbird's wing! :yikes:

I totally freaked out and had to ask my teenage daughter to help! I now have Bunny Fresh hay and no nasties ever found <touch wood>.

Apparently you can find hedgehogs too!

This morning I found granite(?) in my hay. I'm curious as to what else people have found as I remember someone had a dead grasshopper in their hay on here

I once found a rabbit foot I wrote a letter to the company clomplaining although I didn't include the foot in the letter only photos... I never got a response so I just stopped buying there hay!

When we first had the pigs i bought bags of meadow hay from the local pet shop but stopped when one bag we had produced lots of small bugs that crawled everywhere!

But a rabbit foot is supposed to be lucky ;). I would have included the foot, it would have been like a really bad adaptation of a godfather movie.

When I used to by medow hay , l had the occasional feather and bird poop , but if memory serves , l seem to remember someone finding a compleat ly dried out mouse in the hay that they bought

God I spent last summer spending ages getting all the tiny flies that came from my hay, it was a nightmare

Yes it would have been early summer when we had the bugs. No idea what they were and luckily they hadn't made it as far as the piggy cage. Now buy hay elsewhere and store it in the garage!

The only thing other than hay I've had in a bag is mites! :xd:

I once found a popped balloon on a piece of string - and I did read somewhere that someone found a used condom:yikes::yikes:

Never before have I wished so hard that people could learn to clean up after themselves :td:

I'm the one who found a huge, dried out grasshopper! Ugh! I'm not freaked out by bugs, but it was GROSS! I also once found a giant nail as long as my finger in a bad of wood shavings (I suspect the wood shavings were repurposed fencing or telephone poles and that particular nail made it through the process of chopping up and chipping the wood!

Must say I'm surprised by what has been found lol

What do hay suppliers from stores etc do to sift out all the excess compared to farms?
Whatever they do, it's still not always sufficient, as my giant grasshopper monster came from a store-bought bag of pre-packaged hay! I have no clue where they grow it, it obviously isn't local as we do not have grasshoppers that size in our climate!

I buy my hay from a rescue that gets it from local farms. So far, just hay in the bag. I'll be paying closer attention from now on...thanks for posting the question. I am surprised by some of the responses, but I'm a newbie and haven't seen much yet.
