So many things we usually take for granted we just can’t get our hands on at the moment (either due to bulk panic buying clearing the shelves) or the shops that would sell them being closed, so I thought we could have a fun thread listing the items we have managed to acquire that have made us excited.

I’ll go first.

Today through the post I was so excited to get paracetamol (none to be found anywhere round here including the local pharmacy) and 5m of elastic. Felt like I’d won the lottery

It is crazy isn’t it! I was excited to find bonjela this morning as mouth ulcer city at moment....

I finally managed to find somewhere with eggs! My local lumber yard has reopened so I can get thoroughbred shavings delivered again for the pigs, that was exciting, felt like the first step back to normality.
I have a morrisons box being delivered Friday, hopefully...the thought of fresh meat is nice, fish fingers has been as close as ive got for a while 😂 I have quite a long list...I think I'm just easily pleased :lol!:

I’ll be interested to hear how your Morrison’s Box delivery goes - I’m so suspicious!

I got a delivery of easi bed today after being left with no means to get aubiose. The local farm shop is still open short hours but I'd rather not send hubby on additional shopping trips when we have a newborn to protect

Definitely a good delivery day for you, then. I don’t blame you wanting to limit Lord Kelly’s outings to the shops either- every trip out risks bringing some virus into the house. We are limiting our whole family shopping to one trip per week. No mean feat with 4 of us in the family and also shopping for MrA’s Mum, especially when there are still some restrictions on quantities of basics. By the end of the 7 days the fridge is bare of fresh food. Good job we have 2 freezers!

Yea we have a fridge freezer in the garage too and think we are getting just over a week between shops. Last time he went we even got handwash! It was posh bayliss and Harding's stuff too so now my dried out, cracked hands can smell nice at least!

I had told 2 friends and my uncle about it, their boxes came no problem and they were really happy with it! Me? Not so much. I was meant to have one delivered on the 10th but DPD didnt bother picking it up from them so it never came, we were a bit short of food for a while until yesterday when we braved a trip to the co-op, wasnt particularly happy about that but needs must. So yeah..I'm a bit suspicious of it myself at the moment, I dont believe it will ever turn up 😂

I was really excited a couple of weeks ago (I think) to find a solitary bag of bread flour in a little local Sainsbury’s.

Flour cannot be found anywhere now.

I had a look on Amazon last night - Allinson’s strong white bread flour was going for £23.75 per 1.5 kg bag!
I am not that desperate

22kg sack of rice. I've been trying to get rice for weeks, OH was down to his last .5kg, his allergies mean he can't eat much else. We had a tip off about a small shop that sells sacks. Meant taking the car out which we are trying to avoid but OH went and picked one up, really nice rice too. Whoever would have thought rice would become so exciting!

My microwave stopped working first day of lockdown, we got fed up of reheating food the old fashioned way. I have a freezer drawer full of ready made meals. made. A company on ebay came to the rescue, brilliant service and just what I wanted. We are like children with a new toy.

I got fresh yeast at the supermarket this week.
I never use the stuff tbh, but one of the kids has turned into a bread making pro. Bread isn't in short supply, but she loves to cook and finally has the time to experiment with lots of yeast based recipes. Mind you I am not complaining.

The other lovely thing was a neighbour popped 3 packets of flower seeds into my letterbox.
All garden centers have been closed for over a month, and she noticed me out in the garden messing around with pots at the weekend and thought I might appreciate the seeds. And I did - I have no flower seeds left and have been reduced to planing too many radishes and trying to revive last years lupin.

For that price I could post you some gorgeous organic Swiss flour :yikes:

You can freeze fresh yeast as well and it keeps up to one month. I usually portion it out and wrap it in cling film then it's good to go when I need it

A lot of farm shops around us are happy to do delivery, have you rang them to see if they do. ?

Am I the only person on here who doesn't know what flumps are? I'm about the same vintage as you both and @VickiA comes from down South like me, so it's probably not a Northern thing.

Please enlighten me!
Flumps are/were small chunks of marshallow texture with a sweet coating. all colours if you get one and roll it in your hands it's amazin turns black (dirt) and ends up shape of a pencil. . . I love them and sherbert flying saucers.

No, definitely don't know about those.

Sherbet flying saucers I'm acquainted with, but wouldn't go wild over!

Flumps are a twisty marshmallow sweet..... soft and light . I can post you one if you like? 👍

No the powder stuff is dried. Fresh yeast is generally kept behind the fresh bakery counter in the fridge and comes as part of a block.
