What heating do you put in your pig shed over winter ?

Although I've brought my piggies in for winter now I was wondering what type of heaters people use for piggies living in sheds over the winter . I have a summer time pig shed in which I keep my 2 boys and it has electricity running to it but I've never attempted to try heating it . I have snuggle heat pads for them that they use indoors when it's a cold night for the drop in temperature even indoors. I thought that there must be heat lamp type things on the market for outdoor dogs that could do the trick but I've no idea ! Thanks all rolleyes

I've got an oil filled electric radiator in my shed. It has a thermostat so I can set it to knock itself off when it gets too warm and turns itself back on when it cools down.

If you were going to heat your shed it would be a good idea to insulate it first otherwise it's not going to be very cost-effective. I think you can buy insulating boards from places like wickes which are essentially silver foil covered polystyrene, which I seen used in a lot of posts on here. Oil filled radiators are a good way to heat the whole shed, halogen heaters and fan heaters can be used in the same way but are more expensive to run, tubular heaters offer frost protection, electric heat mats can be used to provide direct heat but obviously look into what your getting and placement of them so as not to be a fire/electrical hazard (same with any heat source really), heat lamps also offer more direct heat but only dull emitter bulbs will provide heat without light and they would only really be of use if the pigs had free range of the shed so they could be suspended from the ceiling.
