I know I should of started it ages ago and kept a record, but silly me of course thought 'nothing can go wrong!' and didn't...however from today I am going to make a weekly weigh of my boys.

I am kind of worried...it may just be the change from Gerty Musli to Exel Nuggets and Robin just isn't that keen - but I've seen him eating them and he eats plenty of veg...but he is quite a bit lighter than Hamish.

Hamish has grown quite a bit and is roughly 1200 grams where as Robin is roughly 950 grams. Robin feels smaller than he did, hence why I thought I best weigh them and see where they stand.

I will weigh them again next week and see if there is a change. If there is a dramatic change, I may put two different foods in the bowls so he has a choice...as that's the only problem I can foresee.

What would be considered unhealthy weights in boys?

My Fred weighs 919grams... He's a lightweight boar clearly like Robin. There is no right or wrong weight.

There is no set weight, so until you've kept a record it won't mean anything, if you see what I mean!

Is he in good condition ie. well covered or can you see his hip bones? If you feel he has lost weight, then you're probably right. Worth a look at his teeth, just in case.

Well I thought I felt his hips were a bit more prominant than they were before - so again yeh that's why I felt concerned.

Other than that he seems perfectly healthy - great fur, bright eyes, appetite is all there. He eats veg and hay perfectly fine and poops a lot! So I don't think there's a problem there...

I will try to check his teeth later...but to be honest he doesn't like his mouth/face area being touched so I'm a tad aprehensive about it! :red

Because of the cystitis trouble I've had, I have stopped feeding my pigs pellets for some time and it meant about a 50g loss in weight for both Nerys an Llewelyn.

It takes about three weeks for them to make the switch fully and then they will put that weight back again!

Why should that stop you feeding pellets to the pigs?

Aah I see, it didn't seem so bad when I had to change them onto P&H food when I had run out of Gerty and had no means of getting any to replace it, hence why I've went onto these nuggets now because it saves them from being picky about particular parts of the musli and it's also easily accessible from the pet shops in my area.

I'll just keep an eye on the weight and see how we go then - least I know he's not under weight by piggeh standards :)
