My guinea pigs are in a large hutch lined with newspaper then woodshavings then hay, is shredded paper good as bedding? I currently clean my hutch 2-3 times a week and wondered if anyone has any better ideas on how to keep them cleaner?

Shredded paper gets wet quicker so you'll probably have to change daily. Megazorb is good you can buy that from a horse feed shop you can find stockists here http://www.northerncropdriers.co.uk/stockists.htm I have paid £5.26 a bag last year. I now use fleece blankets but I am thinking of changing over to megazorb for cages during the winter indoors.

Just fitted our first pro-fleece last night (after buying probably the biggest roll of it in history!) - the piglets love it! It's soft, traps heat really well, and we've been very impressed with how it draws liquid away from the surface and leaves piggies dry. Would definitely recommend it.

I'm currently trying out fleece bedding but to be honest ive not made my mind up of it yet, the piggies seem to have taken a step back and aren't using their litter tray at all where as before they were using it the majority of the time. Ive never seen so much poo in my life, in the first 24 hours i removed about 300 little presents they kindly left for me all over their cage.

The fleece does its job and does draw back the liquid but it certainly doesnt smell as fresh as it did with shavings, but I'm not a big fan of them either, so may see what else is available I'm sure we'll find something that suits us all :)

hi I would recommend fleece - I wanted to try it out so i chopped up a cheap fleece blanket from woolies just to see how it worked out and it is fab :)):))

I just sweep out the poops every morning and then change the cage after 3-4 days - its nice and soft, easy to wash, it comes out of the washer nearly dry and even if its raining outside it dries real quick over a clothes horse. xx>>>

There's no shavings all over the place, so its tidier and I don't have to keep running up the pet shop for more supplies:) above all else my piggy seems really happy with it and doesn't lay in his hay anymore and always goes to sleep on his fleece x)

i like fleecing, i wouldnt have anything else. sawdust gets everywhere and i found there cage would smell more with it than fleece. mine stays quite fresh!

I always brush poos off morning and evening, keeps it nice and tidy and have an upstairs area of hay and carefresh and a litter tray where they wee and poo mostly.
