Junior Guinea Pig
Hello everybody
!
I'm Olivia, and I have recently joined the piggy forum
I do not yet own piggies, but I am currently preparing for them (I got the gift of them for my 18th birthday, but chose to learn everything about them, and prepare their space, before looking into getting some). We are building our own enclosure/home for them, as I wanted a more permanent home for them, rather than caging. One of the things we are also making are their hidey huts!
The space is not a typical square/rectangle, so I am hand making everything myself to ensure it all fits well! I have been doing SO MUCH research into "guinea pig safe wood" to build their hideys out of, and I have learnt a lot - such as requiring planed, untreated, solid wood, and no materials such as plywood or MDF. However, I have been advised of so many contradictory suggestions, that claim they are safe, but when I do more research, it turns out they actually are not!
Does anybody have any experience in DIY'ing their own wooden hideys, and could perhaps make some wood suggestions (that I have a bit more faith in
)?!
Thank you everybody!
