What Is This? Help!

My 4 1/2 year old female guinea pig has a red lump down there and it would be really helpful if anyone knows what is is and how to treat it. I haven't been able to book a vet appointment yet since the vets is closed on weekends but will make one ASAP.

Regrettably, I cannot see the image you have posted?!

However, I would recommend that you place your guinea pig on a clean white towel, and in a dark, quiet, and warm room!

Placing your guinea pig on a clean white towel will help to prevent infection, and will allow you to monitor whether your guinea pig is bleeding!

Placing your guinea pig in a dark, quiet, and warm room will keep your guinea pig calm, and comfortable!

Please continue to monitor your guinea pig periodically, to ensure that your guinea pig is eating, drinking, and defecating etc!

However, your guinea pig will need to be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible - I would recommend that you arrive at your veterinary practice as they are opening!

I can't see the image either. See what the vet thinks, it could be some kind of cyst or abcess. If so she may need pain relief too. If she is given antibiotics you will need to give probiotics at least an hour after each dose. This thread covers the different brands in the UK

You should be able to get an out-of-hours service number from your vets' answering machine if you are in the UK. Best of luck with having it checked today. Any lump needs to be seen by a vet anyway.

From what I've read in Guinea Pig Magazine, pigs are quite sucsceptible to cysts and things, especially on their faces and genital area :3 So, hopefully that's all it is but make sure it's nothing serious when you see the vet ^.^ Good luck!
