Archie makes this noise when i rub his chops and sometimes under his chin, he presses really hard against me, like a cat or something, sometimes he flops out against me in a cuddle. It is very very affectionate and sweet, but I am not entirely sure what you would even call this.

Sounds like nice happy and loving piggie purrs to me :). My little Ripley purrs a lot too!

It normally show that they are happy my old guinea pig ginger used to do it x

I love that sound! That's the males love song, it's called "Rumblestrutting". He will do it around a female that he fancies. He is saying "Look what a fine fellow I am". Archie seems to do it when you rub his G-spot! He is a lovely happy chatty boy.

Ohh okay :P thank you all for all the kind comments x

Archie is a handsome little chap. He obviously loves and trusts you. None of my lot jump onto my lap like that! How old is he and how long have you had him? Is he a rescue piggie? I think you are his surrogate girl piggie!

Thank you :)
Well he is only partly mine, technically he is my neighbours but I keep him company during the day and when my neighbour is away. He was from the adoption area in Pets At Home, apparently he was fighting a lot with other pigs or something. I think he is about a year and a half, she got him last year around spring and he was only little then.
Oh he is very sweet and clever, he understands quite a lot of things I say and do, I would say that based on what I have seen from him, guinea pigs are just as intelligent as dogs, they just show it in a different way due to being prey animals etc. He loves playing chase, I have to chase him across the room and then he will spin around and chase me back, sometimes in circles. He goes bloody fast too, I am always dead by the end of it XD

Archie certainly is displaying his male prowess there! Pigs usually do this around eachother, checking out who's who (sniffing scent glands on the cheeks) and establishing who's the boss.
