Yesterday it felt hard and ringworm like so I was going to ring the vet and make an appointment today, however when I've got him out today it looks brown and quite sticky actually as if there's some discharge coming out of it? It doesn't look like ring worm at all, obviously I will still ring the vet I just wondered if anybody could shed any light on the situation before hand, has anybody seen anything like this before? Hope my baby's okay :(

It looks like it could be the start of Cheilitis, have a look at the Guinea Lnyx info here http://www.guinealynx.info/cheilitis.html obviously this is a case where it has really got a hold, but you look as if you've caught it nice and early. Definitely worth a vet trip to get it checked out, let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys its good to have an idea what I might be dealing with. I've got him booked in at the vets at 4:30 today so won't be a long wait for the little guy, could I ask if that's easy to treat? Thanks again!

If it is cheilitis, then it is non-infectious and pretty straightforward to treat.

Looks like Chelitis to me too. Am sure a member on here a while ago was given Itrafungol for her pig with Chelitis but Nystatin is used too.

Hi all! Just got back from the vets, I was pretty unimpressed to begin with as he first said it was ringworm and I knew it wasn't. I politely said 'I know you're the professional, but I think it may be this' and showed him the guinealynx information. He was very interested and read the whole thing! He tried to pull the scab off with some hibbi scrub to soften the edges, it wouldn't budge so I've been given some myself to try to budge it myself by cleaning it daily.
I've been given some other topical cream to fight the bacteria and also some oral antibacterial. Got to give him 0.4ml a day mixed with some juice to make it taste better for the little guy! He was so brave and only flinched once when the bet was trying to get the scab off. Thanks for your help guys it was in effect better than the vets!

Looks nothing like ringworm! Silly vet! What anti-bacterial lotion did you get?

I know! Thankfully I knew myself so could get him the right treatment, I might consider moving to a vet with more piggie knowledge in the future. We got fucidin ointment and baytril oral solution :-)

Definitely worth trying to find a more piggy savvy vet before you need one for something more serious!

Everybody will be pleased to know his nose is healing nicely the scab has fallen off of its own accord as you can see below, I imagine its quite sore as its raw but it means he's getting better :-)

Unfortunately I think he might have some sort of mite or something in his paw? What's everybody's opinions, regarding the bald patches and there is also some patches which look sore? I'm back at the vet on Thursday for a follow up appointment, would it wait this long or will he be in pain? Thanks all.
