This is my female guineapig she is about 1 .
What do you think this is on her back is it just her grease gland I'm looking at? It looks very scaly and messy. I tried trimming around it yesterday and removing some matts but what do you think it is?

I’m not an expert but I would say it looks like she has an overactive grease gland. It happens mainly in boats but can happen in sows too. There’s something you can use to clean it off but I’m afraid I can’t remember the name

Hi! It can be an overactive grease gland, but if in doubt, please have it vet checked. Grease glands can become infected.
How to deal with grease glands in this guide here (both genders can suffer from overactive glands, but boars do so much more often): Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths
