Last night I noticed that Darcy was sleeping more than usual however she was still eating so I kept an eye on her but this morning when I got up she was very lethargic not moving with rapid breathing or eating and her poo was very soft. My vet was closed as it is Sunday so I had to take her to an emergency vet. They put her on oxygen when I got there as her breathing was still rapid and when looking at her the vet wasn’t sure if it was respiratory related or to do with her stomach. She gave her an oral antibiotics and two injections one for pain and one to help her stomach. She also gave me some recovery food to give her but Darcy refuses to swallow it and just coughs it up. When we got home she perked up slightly and was eating a bit of hay and a few veggies however she has gone back to being lethargic and she has not pooed since we got home from the vet. The only food that she will eat now is veg if I hand feed it to her but I’m not sure if I should give it to her as her stomach is swollen and she she is very lethargic. Her stomach is also
Making some noise. I am taking her back to my normal vet first thing in the morning as advised by the emergency vet as she is more experienced with Guineas pigs but I was wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be and what I can do to help her feel better in the meantime.

Hi! It sounds like your piggy has got bloat or a blockage.

Please read the advice in this guide here and see a vet as soon as you can: Bloat, GI Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

When syringe feeding, always be careful that you do not give more than 0.1-0.5 ml at any time depending on how big/weak she is; that is what she can hold in her mouth and swallow. Wait until the first lot has gone down safely and not ended up in the lungs or the nose before giving the next lot. Syringe feeding is a slow and time consuming process.
Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Fingers very firmly crossed!

Thankyou! Will I be okay gong her veg or will this make it worse? She will be seeing a vet first thing tomorrow morning is there anything I can do to help her make it through the night?
