What is wrong with some people?!

I've just been reading Cavy Corner's daily Facebook update and the top story made me cry. Someone walking their dog in woods came across a soggy cardboard box and as their dog showed interest in it they looked inside and found a terrified guinea pig. Luckily this lovely person took him home and the piggy is now in the safe and loving care of Cavy Corner. I am sending healing vibes to him. What I would send to the heartless person who dumped him is not printable.
 
Breaks my heart what people do, I always check boxes or bags while I'm out walking or running, you just never know. Absolutely no excuse to dump an animal out in the elements.
 
I agree it is heartbreaking.

But go into any chain pet store on a Saturday morning and look at the 'responsible' adults buying their kids pets on a whim.
Choosing inappropriate cages because they are pretty or cheap, or will fit the space we have - not the requirements of the animal/s in question.

Look at these same animals being handed back to rescues and pet stores a few months later when the kids are bored with them, or they smell, or they are going to cost money.
The real issue is the adults who don't take responsibility and lead by example.
Kids are being raised to believe that some lives are worth less than others, and the adults around them are teaching them it's ok.
It makes me so sad for the animals and the kids.

That's so sad. :( One of my friends ended up with a guinea pig in the same way... dumped in a park in a shoebox. Thankfully he also got a good home with her (she already had other pigs at home.) Some people are disgusting when it comes to how they treat animals.
 
yes, just read on FB that Mariars animal shelter have just taken in four baby rabbits dumped in a box, it beggars belief how heartless people have become.
 
That poor piggy! I have almost the same story but with a cat. I was on a vacation and I kept hearing this meowing so I looked everywhere and then I found a box. It had a kitten in it 🥺 the only thing he had was a raggy blanket and his soggy cardboard box. Makes me sad to think about it and even more for a guinea pig😥
