Can anyone help?
My piggie Zumba is a poorly boy.
Since Monday night he has been lethargic and not moving much, is not eating and is gassey.
Took him to the vet on Tuesday, she gave him 2 injections, metacam and emeprid and a sachet of supreme recovery food.
He is eating the recovery food as I am feeding it to him by a syringe.
Today I took him back to the vet as he hadn't improved, the vet gave him baytril, emeprid, metacam and some more recovery food and fibre plex.
He hasn't improved and the vet doesn't know what is wrong with him.
He is still passing urine and pooing.
He has to go back to vet tomorrow.
He is only 1 year old.
Any ideas piggie people!

Hi, I have moved your thread to Health and Illness as it couldn't be seen in the section it was posted.

Sorry to hear your piggie is poorly. Did they vet say what they thought was wrong with him? Your doing well with the syringe feeding, that will be keeping Zumba's system moving along with the emeprid. Did the vet give you any emeprid to give at home also?

Here is a link to the recommended vets map http://goo.gl/maps/UwUIU If there are none near you I would recommend ringing around and asking at the vets if they have a vet with some good guinea pig knowledge - this is how we found our vet 2 years ago.

It is very difficult to say what is going on; there can be a variety of underlying issues. :(

You are doing the right thing in hand feeding him; he needs about 120ml of recovery food over the course of 24 hours, including night feeding. You will probably struggle to get in more than 10-15 ml in one go.

Here is our list of recommended piggy savvy vets, perhaps you want to get a second opinion as your vet can't do more? I can most warmly recommend Simon Maddock at the Cat&Rabbit Clinic n Northampton; he is one of the best piggy vets in the country.
