Odd question, but just wondering rolleyes

My least favourite thing is cleaning their water bottles. I hate the brushes, and the noise, and the fact that no one has invented a decent brush so i have to stick my fingers in and clean the lid and rim, and it makes a cringey horrible noise. And my hands are all soggy and dirty feeling afterwards! Hate hate hate it :)>>>

But I think the WORST thing is different. The worst thing for me is when they're ill, and when you lose them. Caring for Ringo for several months, and then making the decision to have him put to sleep, was the hardest thing I've ever done. I was devastated when he died. I'm really paranoid about my pigs, and my Dad frequently has to reassure me that the pigs are fine.

You don't have to answer the 'worst' bit like I did, but I'm curious to know what your least favourite piggy-task is. I actually don't mind cleaning them out. But water bottles = bluurrrgh

Willy cleaning! I don't mind doing it, but trying to tip your boar, extrude the penis AND clean with just 2 hands is a bit of a faff!

Gotta love boars. I just had to detatch Ozzy's bits from his tummy hair. How that happened to begin with I have no idea, but it can't have been the most comfortable experience of his life... Bless him. rolleyes

My least favourite thing... Cleaning them out. I have 19 so that's a lotta poop, a lotta manky bedding and a lotta hutch space to get nice and clean every time they need doing! But I love my pigs, so mess I can put up with for those gorgeous little fluffballs! x)

Definitely cleaning them out I only have four but 2 of them really do poop for England, it takes them only a few hours to ruin there clean bedding!

I would say cleaning boys grease glands, or clearing impactions. Yuk. :)>>> Cleaning them out can be a pain but nothing compared to this. But they give me so much back. I love them to bits.

x.

Late nights and not getting anything done around the house as we are spending all our spare time sit watching them - it's far better than tv!

The smell of one of my boars at the moment. He's so stinky. My brother doesn't like sitting in the house even when I've just cleaned them out as he makes the smell again. ^^;

Least favourite: it's got to be willy cleaning and impactions..the smell! Yeuch! @)

Yikes, i've got all this to look forward to when i pick up Finley pig in a week :)) i do have a strong nose those what with working in a hospital! Not sure how the OH will take it though!

My least favourite things are of course when they get ill or die, its so heartbreaking.
I also don't really like cleaning cages as there are so many poops but I do it cos I love my babies :)

When Artie sits in his poop nest, and makes his pretty white underside a funny shade of coffee colour...and then I have to clean him weekly it just smells gross. :( :))

Cutting their nails! Cause its so fiddly and I am scared I will cut the quick, plus have to do it when hubby is around cause it is a 2 man job!

When they are ill, mine have not been very ill but i still got extremely worried, i dont like to bath them or cut there nails either (but that doesn't mean i don't) because they dont like it and i feel really bad

I forgot about that one! I hate doing it too, had to get them done by someone else last time as I just couldn't do it :{

i would definatly say when i am cleaning them out, i have newspaper down at the bottom, i hate having to lift the soaked with wee newspaper out of their home and putting in in the bin, especially when it is stuck to the cage...

Other than that i love everything else :))

I love my pig but when she squeaks as loud as she can at six in the morning on a saturday i am not her biggest fan!

The part I hate most is being afraid I will forget to double latch the cage door and one of the other animals will get in when I am not looking. I go back and check frequently.

My least favourite thing is cleaning their water bottles. I hate the brushes. . .no one has invented a decent brush
Maybe try in the human infant section of a department store, or in a baby shop? I have seen bottle brushes that have one end for cleaning the bottles themselves, and the other end tapered and bent for cleaning the nipples and underneath the edges of the bottle neck.

Willy cleaning!
Oh My Freakin' Goodness, do we have to do that, TOO? Please say it isn't so! I'm just getting used to the idea of having to trim their nails, which I haven't done yet.

The smell of one of my boars at the moment. He's so stinky.
And how does that happen? Maybe because Red is still quite young he has not developed a smell? So you're telling me that not only do I have to clean a willy but I have to contend with a stinky guinea pig? AAAAaaaaahhhhhhkkkkk!

Enjoying a lovely cuddle when a guinea pig farts in your face!
Oh, this is getting worse instead of better. . .

LMAO at Pat! :))

Yeah willy cleaning, I always check mine but they've never been bad, one of my old boars, Charles (RIP) He used to get impacted when he was older, he lived until he was 6, you'll probably be ok with Red for a bit, I find after the age of 2 its worth checking their bums regularlary and if you can see like a splodge of poop it often means their backed up and it needs easing out.

I had my two out on the living room floor free ranging last night and Tyler hadn't done it before, he's just 3 months so didnt want to put him down to roam until i knew he was less skittish and I could catch him and he was stinking like a good 'un lol! I call it 'scenting' like they give off an odour to mark their territory, like saying 'hey I'm a BOAR and I'm HERE!'

Yep defo hate fiddling with boys bits, poop scooping and when they die, that outweighs all the other stuff as worst :(

Oh Pat that made me laugh so much!:)):))

Yep willy cleaning is part of keeping a boar I'm afraid. Especially if they have crystals in their bladder as they can collect around it and its very painful for them, can even get infected.

Its not a nice job and he will hate you for it (for a short while), but once you get the hang of it its quite simple.

Just dont use any kind of cleaning stuff, just tepid water and GENTLE handling. For me the most difficult part was getting hiw willy out :... First few times the poor little fella was not impressed!

Theres probably a thread on here somewhere with advice on how to do it.

My least favourite thing would have to be getting pee'd on.

I mean you sat there enjoying a lovely snuggle then all of a sudden your "warm" rolleyes

The job I hate is cutting their nails. They hate it so much and wriggle and squeal like anything. They will also pull away and can get cut. Then if I make them bleed I feel so upset and guilty at having put them through the pain. :(
