What kind is bedding is best?

Hi all,
Title isn’t meant to be: What kind of bedding isn’t best. My phone is having a fee issues with autocorrect lately!

I’m currently in the process of building my cage. Just waiting for a few more materials to come.
I’m getting very confused with what kind of bedding to use?

This will be an indoor cage.

I’m planning on having half the cage fleece bedding and the other half something else but I’m seeing some people say sawdust is a no no and some people recommending sawdust.

Can anyone help? I’ve never owned Guineas before so I want to make sure I dont make any major mistakes and do what is best for them :)
 
It is really up to you-
If you are getting a C&C cage then I would recommend fleese. However if not, wood shavings are best
 
You have a few options for the other half - there's Carefresh, Megazorb, Back2Nature, and those are just paper based bedding. My vote goes for Carefresh Natural or Megazorb, my boys loved them both.

There are more, I just can't think of them right now.
 
I've used kiln dried pine shavings since I first started keeping piggies about 16 years ago and they work well for my lot. I also use paper bedding from Kaytee called clean and cosy for my special needs lady but that might be getting changed to Fitch. You'll find a lot of people warn against shavings due to respiratory issues but if you make sure they're kiln dried and dust extracted, they're fine especially with a nice thick layer of hay over the top :)

There are several wood chipping alternatives in the UK, like hemp-based fitch: Bedding For Guinea Pigs - Overview
 
It all depends on your preference really, there are a lot of good disposable beddings out there, but I personally love fleece bedding :)
 
There’s snowflake softchip shavings which I use in their hay tray. Megazorb looks to be quite good but I’ve never actually used it - the school guinea pigs are bedded on it but I reacted to it. I’ve also used aubiose and loved it, but I reacted to it so had to change. I’m back to fleece again. One benefit is less waste and the lower cost long term.
 
I use a mixture of Aubiose in some areas mostly where the hay is and fleece bedding in a separate area.
Aubiose, is absorbent and cheap but comes in big package, so need room to store it.
 
Thank you for all of the responses! I think I’m going to look into Fitch bedding :)
