Just wondered if anyone knew what kinds of lettuce guinea pigs could eat - apart from romaine.

I know that they can't have iceberg lettuce, but are there any other kinds that they can get?

Thanks in advance!

My gang like the 'mixed ' bags from the supermarket. They normally have babyleaf, little gem is also a favourite.

Mine have them all apart from Iceberg - you do have to watch the mixed bags - I get used to buying certain ones for them to change one of the lettuces to iceberg mallethead You just have to read the back of the packets.

The "herb garden salad" from Morrisons, at the moment, has changed the coriander to parsley - much loved by the piggies but I have to watch I don't feed them extra of that.

Ours love Romaine the best but they seemed to have got a bit smaller and more expensive so I buy these when they are on offer, at the moment they are on just a normal round lettuce

They can bascially eat any lettuce; some are more nutritional than others.

Please be aware that all lettuces - like carrots - are high in vitamin A which builds up in the liver. Like carrots, they should not be fed daily.

Now confused.

The link on here I used looking into what to feed them said that romaine lettuce was okay daily.

Which is what I've been doing.

Yes please read the back of the packet.... i've been fooled a couple of times, you get out a handful (not these days as whee can't have any lettuce SIGH) to find a big piece of iceberg @)
