Hi there,

My name is Jennie, I am 24 and I am new here. On Monday I became a very proud pig mumma to 12 week old Gertie (white Abyssinian).
This evening I hid some small pieces of grape around her cage, it was the first time she had tried grape. When she found and ate the first piece of grape she started popcorning all around her cage while frantically searching for more. This is the first time I have seen her do this and needless to say I nearly wheed myself with laughter and delight! :<>:))
So it got me thinking, what makes your piggies popcorn and how often do you see them doing it?

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Popcorning piggies are so cute. I've got 3 piggies - Smudge who will randomly popcorn at anything, Spike who will popcorn when he gets fresh hay, grass time (when he goes mental) or a tickle under the back leg, and J who rarely popcorns.

Ive got 10 pigs and all popcorn over different things:

My bonded boys popcorn when ive just cleaned their cage
my youngest girl popcorns whenever we speak to her
My neutered boy popcorns when we hoover the cage

Others generally popcorn whenever we swap their toys around, fill their hay racks up or talk to them....

We just got our pigs but so far our youngest popcorns after eating his dinner of fresh veggies & they both were popcorning about 10 minutes after cuddles with me & my husband :)

My boys popcorn at things like puttin them in the run and giving them grass.

Ralphie also popcorns if you put him inside the house on fleece with a song on the tv, he goes crazy trying to sing along! :D

Mine tend to popcorn after we've held them - even though they act like they hate it at the time (they are quite new to us, only a week old in our terms!) they start popcorning all over the place when we put them back! x

Ditto pop corns when I'm holding him anf stroking tickling him .. :-D also when he hears the veggy bag ot his cage has just been cleaned
.. Hes a happy little chap :-)

Hi, welcome to the forum, I'm glad to see your piggy is happy. :)
My piggies popcorn when I feed them their vegetables and also when I clean there cage they popcorn too. :p

I have 6 piggies - 5 of which popcorn and my Jessie who's a grumpy bum!

The 5 that popcorn go crazy over - veg - big piles of hay - the sound of paper bags (usually a sign that they are getting cleaned out) and the sound of the grazing pens been dragged along the patio.

Mine are very easy to please except Jessie lol

rocky popcorns when you playfight with him (chase him and tickle not actual fight as you could with dogs), gizmo i you scratch his back, ben doesnt, marmite when hes on the lawn, and charlie and ozzie are always popcorning
