Just wondered if anyone's piggies prefer a certain type of music? My pig Sam rumbles at me when I've played rock music, ub40 or anything upbeat. He seemed to relax when I played Mozart for him though

Mine don't really pay attention to music but once when my fudgie and Frankie decided to hide behind the wardrobe for a few hours, I played Guinea pig sounds from YouTube and they soon came running out :)

Ha ha, yeah I tried that once and Sam and Georgie were squeaking like mad

The only way I can get my pigs to allow me to do dishes in piece is to play music, they don't like when we play any sort of music but classical so they go and hide if I listen to the radio which means they aren't begging at the side of the cage :) any other time I'm in the kitchen they are begging

Not long after my lovely old girl fudge was diagnosed with heart failure, i was having a cuddle with her and got a little upset. Doris day- secret love came on the tv.. Her head went up slowly and she listened so intently. She purred, crawled up my chest and kissed my face for the first time. She then lay on my chest and dosed. It was just one little lick, the first ever. Now fudge absolutely smothers me in kisses on a regular basis. Every now and again on those particularly tough days regarding fudge, i get out her blanket and we have a snuggle whilst "fudges song" plays. It still sends her into a sleepy trance after shes been listening so intently for a while. X

That is soooo cute!

Mine never seem to pay attention. However, 2 out of 4 have consistent rumbled at the sound of a phone being dialed or television remote control being pressed, so it seems that isn't popular with some pigs!

Interesting question.
One of my kids plays the trumpet, and for the first few weeks we had the piggies she was banished upstairs to play so it didn't upset them.
But one day she did play it in the next room, and they were all fascinated. They all crowded to the bars of their cage as close to the door as possible.
Now she plays downstairs, and they all seem to love it.

My other daughter plays the cello, and has been playing for longer, so plays much better.
The guinea pigs rarely even lift their heads to acknowledge her playing.

I am raising a bunch of culture-less philistines.

I've never paid attention to my pigs and if they like music.
I rarely listen to anything though.
I'll keep watch next time!
=o

Ours don't like music, they run and hide if we put the stereo on. I only tend to be able to listen to music when I'm in the car (not that the piggies rule the household or anything lol)! On the other hand they love the telly and if theres music on the telly they don't seem to mind that.

my piggies like relaxing nature music, birds etc, they all go inthere hides and go to sleep, seem to know it is bedtime!they dont keep me awake then!:sly:

Aww, I think I'll have to try that, I have to wear ear plugs at night cos they keep me awake, noisy gits lol

I played an old paramore song and my Sebastian was squeaking to it and running around, I was very shocked! Haha:whistle:

Chock's a posh pig he's had harp music played for him since i got him in febuary 2013
He falls asleep when i play any of my instruments especially the harp and the flute.
He rumbles at some of the. Piano base notes but he still falls asleep if i play it for long enough...

I discovered today that Ziggy likes Sound & Vision, David Bowie. Which I'm happy about as she's named in his honour (or it might just have been she was running about & wheeking because she's in season!)

I'll need to look out for this! My 3 used to run into their sleepy boxes whenever my phone rang or an alert went off, now they don't bother. One time when I had it on vibrate Teddy did a rumble strut when she heard it. I'd love a wheek noise as my text alert!
