What on earth is this?

I've heard that some vets (only in the US?) are starting to do cyst capsule removal using just a local. This obviously depends on the location of the cyst and temperament of the pig. Is this maybe worth asking about?

Having a bit of a meltdown here and hoping for some guidance and reassurance 🥺
So my vet was happy with how clean and healthy the skin was looking so advised to stop flushing and see if it would start to heal. I kind of ignored this a little and continued to flush but with far less solution at a time. This morning however it is clear that the puss is still forming and so I’m upping the flushing again and starting to accept that she will need surgery 😭 I don’t really understand though what needs to be removed and where it is, given the fact granulation tissue has formed. Also would the wound need to be fully closed after as I can’t see enough skin to close? 💔 I’m worried sick

I’m afraid I have no advice but from looking at your photos, it definitely looks better than the first photos.

I’m sorry that Brownie didn’t wake up from surgery, I understand your concerns.

But remember that Poppy is a different guinea pig and lump removal is a fairly straight forward op.

Poppy is beautiful and I am thinking of you both x

I’m sorry it’s taking time to heal. My Pepper was on a six week course of antibiotics when he had his abscess.

Is she still on the antibiotics? As there is still infection/pus she will still need antibiotics. Your vet can advise of how they will perform any surgery. Sending hugs to you and healing vibes to Poppy ❤️

She’s still on baytril, I don’t know if there’s a better one? She can’t have Zithromax
That’s a shame. Baytril did nothing for Pepper. Maybe she needs a longer course of Baytril or you could ask your vets their thoughts on another antibiotic. I know sometimes two are used together for stubborn infections. Good luck.
