So my lucy screams when i open fridge or shake bags for food! love it but what else could those same screams mean when imjust walking around or in kitchen or whereever.. I have not shaken any bags are really not made any sounds? I cant figure out why she still makes those sounds for? HELP

I thought maybe it was for more food but she has plenty of food still in her cage, i dont get it i was just walking around in kitchen and she starting doing it again...

screams? do you mean wheeking?, mine do this when they just want to come out of their cage for a bit

It depends what kind of sound they're making. Did you check out the jackies guinea pigs site?

http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapigsounds.html

If it is wheeking, it could be for a number of things and it isn't usually a bad thing.

Wheeking can be really loud, especially if more than one piggy is doing it at the same time - they tend to encourage each other! Piggies usually wheek when they want "something". That could be food, attention, floor time etc. So that could be one reason - they want you to play with them.

OR

Piggues are pretty smart and they sometimes try to bully their owners. Like a baby sometimes. If you've fed them, let them out for floor time and given them a cuddle and they're still wheeking then they might be being greedy. You have to try not to give in to the wheeking in this situation!

Hope that's helpful :)

I currently have 5 guinea pigs in the house, as 4 of them are only babies, while we move their home across from our previous house and as soon as I walk into the kitchen, they start to wheek.

I think they know that whenever I go into the kitchen it is usually to do with food so are probably just wheeking for food or attention. They all encourage each other to make more noise and this then sets off the guinea pigs that are outside.

Yes it is for sure wheeking, no doubt. I took her out last night for about an hour and layedher on my lap and she just layed there, she is still scared a bit, Its just harder for me to tell with her because I adopted her as she was abandoned by her previous owners, Hard telling what they did or what. I'm still trying to get her not to be scared, she now will come further out and eat from my hand so that is good.

Mine wheek if I rustle bags, as I enter the room, if someone walks up the stairs, if I start talking to them in a high pitched voice, literally anything that may give them some sort of inclination that food is on the way even if they have a pile of it in the cage rolleyes

Mine too, I only need to glance in the direction of the kitchen and they start.

Mine even react to the sound of my voice, which i love as they know its me by sight and sound.

Just a simple Hello starts them off and eveytime i shout my rabbit Binky they love me saying his name and they all startx)

I have Beckies piggies staying with me and her Rolo reacts to everything including the biscuit barrel opening not that he gets biscuits out of it but he still wheeks the place down when its openedx)

Mine alway's wheek and come to the cage for the fridge door or rustling but they only do it to my voice i shout piggie's and that set's them off my OH does it and they just ignore him which doesn't make him ahppy lol

my very cheeky youngest guinea does it ALOT, then starts off one of my other pigs. From what I can gather is they know if I coming near them they make that sound theres a good chance of yummy treats coming cos if I put my hand in for them to smell they shut up pretty quickly when they realise theres no food :)) sometimes give my fingers alittle nibble just to see if they are food rolleyes

Haha I love all these stories!

My Dillon is so LOUD! All the time. And when I open the fridge the pair of them wander through to the kitchen from their room and run about my feet until they are fed :))
