Hi there, I have a 2 rising two female guinea pig. We are due to be borrowing a boar to allow her and my other female to have a litter and is due to go in with the girls in the next few weeks. I am quite experienced and have been doing alot of reasearch but any tips or advice in that department would also be welcome! I was clipping her nails tonight and giving her a general look over and felt what seemed to be a fatty lump ( its hard to exactly describe where it is) but down from one of her front legs on her under side if that makes sense. I can roll it around between my fingers and she doesnt seem particularly bothered, no hair loss or scabbiness around it. I have read about guinea pigs having harmless lapomas before and am hoping this is all this is.I am planning on getting her checked out by vet this coming week although my vet isn't very cavy savvy and have had some previous put offs so I'm not very keen on their opinions but any advice or previous experiences or signs to look out for etc would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance :)

Any lumps need a hands on vet check aa they can be a variety of things, so please do have her seen for a diagnosis.

Also, as a strictly non breeding forum, you will not receive any support or advice for intentionally breeding your sow, due to the risks of complications including death of mum and/or pups. Its a breach of the forum rules to intentionally breed. Please reconsider.

My guinea pig has just had a lump removed, hers was sort of above her back leg/thigh area. We booked her in as soon as the more savvy vet was available but had a small wait due to Easter and the lump was then difficult to remove. Op went well and it's all gone and piggy is recovering really nicely but it was tight getting the skin to close again. So I would recommend getting it removed asap for the best outcome if surgery is possible.

Thank you for all your replies, I apologise for breaching the terms and conditions of the forum, I wasn't thinking my apologies.

Will do, thank you. Glad your piggy is recovering well :)
