We bought two female piggies in December and one turned out to be pregnant. She had 2 boys and a girl. We are definitely keeping the girl, but I’m not sure what to do about the boys. They are 6 weeks old now and have been separated for 3 weeks from the girls but they can see them through the bars. Should I keep them and just keep them separate? Should I keep them and get them neutered and see if they can live with the girls? Or should I find another home for the boys? I would only give them to someone I know and who would give them a good life, but I can’t help but worry that they won’t have as good of a life as I would give them!

l would get them neutered, then put them with a female each,so you have two groups if you have the room, because they will fight over the girls even if they are neutered if put all together. that way you know they're got a good live.

There is the possibility that as they grow older the boys may fight if you keep them within sight and scent of the sows. Also, depending on your cage/run set up their urge to mate when they scent a sow in season may lead to an escape attempt and a risk of pregnancy for your sows which would not be advisable.

If you do plan to keep them , then neutering them and keeping 2 groups each with a neutered boar in each group is probably one of the best and safest options.

Are they safe to keep next to the girls until it is time to neuter them? I have a lid on the c&c cage because we have dogs (the dogs can’t get into the guinea pig room, but just in case).

Tough choice as they are gorgeous boys.
I’m sure whatever you decide will be for their best future.

You need to wait until the testicles have descended at around 3-4 months until you can have them neutered and then its a 6 week wait until they are safe to put in with the girlies.

I agree with the others. They will love having a mini herd each when neutered!
