My 2 1/2 years old female guinea pig has red "eye goobers" in the corner of her left eye. Ive tried removing them but it looks like its connected to the eye itself. She may have just scratched her eye and its trying to heal itself. Should i be concerned and take her to a vet?

I would refrain from attempting to remove any foreign object yourself unless you are sure it needs doing so- for example a strand of hay. Personally I would see a veterinarian and get an expert opinion because damaging the eye is serious and at least you'd be aware whether she is in pain or not. :)

here it is, she seems to act just fine and eating, drinking, and being herself.

Hello, I have moved your post to our health and illness section of the forum. Please get a vet to check the eye. It could be inflammation of the conjunctiva, or something causing it to bulge. Please get it checked by a professional.

we let the eye set for a couple days before we would take it to a vet, its healing itself and there really is no more red to the eye! we will keep you updated though.

Your piggie really should see a vet just to make sure it is OK. It may look like it's healing to you but will only a vet can confirm this. A while ago I thought I had managed to get all the hay out of Velvet's eye but took her to the vet anyway. He found a very small seed head starting to embed into her inner eyelid and with a very steady hand and the help of a vet nurse managed to remove it with forceps. Had I left it, Velvet would have been very uncomfortable and may well have lost her eye. If any of my piggies have anything wrong with their eyes it's straight to the vets. You really cannot risk leaving an eye problem.
