I have 3 sows together aged 4 yrs and 2 10 mth old ones they have all been together since june last year 09,they have always got on very well,but the last week ive noticed the 2 10 mth old ones have been having a few squabbles nothing much ,i also notice toffee my lilac coronet was trying to hump sally the other 10 mth old one yesterday so i put 2 and 2 together and thought maybe she is in season well hell has just broken loose toffee attacked sally and made sallys mouth bleed so toffee has now been separated from the other 2 sows, cant understand why this has happened:{ but i put toffee in a box while i was checking all of them over and she was ragging at her blanket like a dog does when they are killing there teddy..
why would she do this is it frustration with her been in season?
she seems well in herself eating drinking etc so I'm not worried about her health at all.
I'm now thinking about re-homing her if anyone has a boar which has been done,as i think this is maybe what she needs i just don't have the room to keep another male guinea=has a boyfriend for toffee xx

I am sorry that Toffee went like that! Finding a boarfriend for her is probably a good idea!

Girls do have hormonal surges as well, but they do not usually end up in bloody fights, only scuffles for dominance.

that's really strange. you did right to separate the one who caused the blood. not sure what to advise, but are you sure she hasn't got lice or mites? And how is her weight?

oooo she is gorgeous, could you not add a neutered boy to that group, some of my ladies were terrible untill i added a neutered male, since adding him things have calmed down and they have learned to live together :) they still have the odd little tiff but nothing too serious x

i tried ralphie with them all twice a few weeks ago and whiskers who is a sow and is 4 yrs old who lives with sally and toffee didnt take to well to having a male in the group,i think i got 3 stubborn guineas:{:{:{
