I had 2 male guineas living together until yesterday when the Daddy guinea died. The guinea that's left is 3 yrs old, and is now alone :(

I also have 3 girl guineas together.

Do you think I should
a) re-arrange the housing so that he can see the girls
b) have him neutered and put him in with them
c) move him into the house

Do guinea pigs get enough company from living in the house with people? I am in the house for most of the week.

I don't want to get another pig as we already have quite a few, although I know that would be absolutely ideal.

Thanks

I don't know what the safe age is to stop neutering, someone may be able to advise on that, but if it's safe for him to be "done" I think would personally do that. One thing I would urge against is leaving him all alone outside, especially in the winter (guineas should be brought into a shed or indoors at this time of year). Being highly social creatures, piggies should be housed next to their own kind and need piggie social interaction, even when all they can do is hear or smell them.

If you didn't want to get another pig for him, then it should be okay for him to be housed next to the girls or brought inside so he at least has human company :)

Best of luck!

i have 2 boys whi live along max dosent like his sons and aflie treid to kill ruben

aflie gose loopy if he sees the girls or even smells them on me. i just make sure there get exrra cuddles but my 2 boys know that the other 9 guinea pigs which i have are there

max dsoe better when seeing the girls he keeps calm about it

but my boys have speet more time alone then with other guinea pigs

I have 4 singletons (3 boys, 1 girl) each has a piggy neighbour to chat to as i daren't have my boys neutered.
If he were mine i'd rearrange the housing so he could see/chat to the girls :)
