What To Do If A Guinea Pig Chokes

Hi guys,

Occasionally my guinea pigs will choke while they are eating. This makes me heart race as I would not know what to do immediately. Is there anything I can do to help in this situation before trying to get them to a vet?

Hi! Some guinea pigs are very greedy eaters. The coughing is not very pleasant, but actual choking is thankfully extremely rare. Please don't panic if it goes on for just a few minutes.

There is nothing you can do apart from feeding little but more often. I have got my own greedy eaters, so there is the occasional coughing fit here, too...
