So, literally a few hours after my post in another forum saying perhaps fate knew there were some guinea pigs out there that would need me, I got the phone call I've kinda been expecting.

A friend got in touch to say another friend who lives near me needs to find a new home for her boys.

It's a similar story to Freddie and Marmalade... human buys piggies, too many other pets, piggies get boring, blah blah blah.

I think the owners are looking after them well but say they haven't got time to give them enough attention.

They are beautiful. I just don't know! It's so soon. The fact I'm not one hundred per cent committed probably provides the answer I seek.

Thoughts?

A tricky one, you should only do it if you feel ready to do so and only you know the answer to that. However should you choose to, they couldn't ask for a better time than with you. They wouldn't replace your boys and it would feel wierd for a while but each piggy is different and finds a new place in your heart.
However you have to feel right inside as otherwise it wouldn't be the best decision for them or you. X

I think if you have all the supplies and time and are commited, Go for it! They won't replace your boys that you already have. However I do understand that you aren't too sure, Maybe just give yourself a few days to think about it? It's hard to decide, Good Luck!

Great advice @sport_billy and @Gizi

The most important question in this is the welfare of those piggies.

I do need to think carefully. If in the meantime they go to another home then they simply weren't my destiny.

Oh but if you saw their little faces... STOP IT! ;-)

^do you mean trying to get all the commands right? I'm useless when I go fiddling. Think I've fixed it! X

Aww, what a tough decision!

If you have the time, I'd definitely go for it!

Like said above.. Getting new piggies would NEVER replace the ones you have just lost!

I'm sure Freddie and Marmalade would be happy that you are helping other piggies in need!

also, new piggies may help you with the loss of your boys? But of course don't feel like you are replacing them!

You would be giving new piggies a great home and helping yourself with a loss!

Good luck with your decision!

I collected two piggies on Friday, Pigson and teddy, they have found a place in my heart. They where very, very well cared for. Pigson is the greediest piggy I have ever met! He just needs his pipe and slippers, teddy is a punk rocker, hair every where. He is as mad as a box of frogs! Love them. Treacle and fudge are settled in now, so it is down getting Pigson to loose a few pounds and get teddy to calm down!

Were they rescue piggies or someone looking to rehome too? Glad it's working out so well for you. Sounds like you have your hands full with some bundles of fun there x

Haven't made a decision yet but it's great to hear everyone's positive and heart warming stories - very inspiring x

None of the new furballs have ever replaced the ones i have lost, they each hold a special place in my heart that i can never forget them, they all had their own individual personalities, some had similar traits but were never the same.

I found that my grieving process was also helped, due to making sure my remaining furball was getting on ok with the new one, each new furball has needed a new home & i have been proud to take them on, they have needed care, love & affection, i have been in the fortunate position that i can provide everything they need for a happy life.

The fact that you're considering rehoming new in need furball friends shows your caring personality & that you want to do the right thing by them.
But if you are seriously doubting your commitment at the moment, then maybe a little breathing space may be needed- just to help you establish if your really ready for new faces yet.

I'd say if you can provide all that they need- time, finance, care & love. i'd go for it.

The others you have lost, i'm sure will be happy that you are going to provide a new home & that the things you learnt with them can be passed on to benefit more lil' piggies.

good luck in your decision

xx
