My big-pig Catherine had 5 gorgeous babies just over 3 weeks ago. :smitten: :smitten: I have been reading up on when they should be separated and re-homed and I'm a bit confused! 98) A few websites suggested moving the boars away from the sows at 3-4 weeks, but Peter Gurney's book suggests they should all be kept together until about 6 weeks. I don't want to move the boars too soon, especially as little pip is at least half the size of his brothers! I don't want any sows getting pregnant either. What shall I do?!

Thanks for your help!

Definatly take the Boars out at 3 weeks,Sows can stay with mum.I personaly seperate the Boars out at 3 weeks then keep them till they are 6 weeks for rehoming

Yeah same advice. Boars out at three weeks and if you are moving the sows I'd move them at 6 weeks O0

Thats a good idea no matter how small the boars are they still can do the business 6 weeks to me is too long and well over a month old ::)

Are you keeping them all ? And do you know the sexes already ? :D

All separated successfully! :) :)

I am keeping the smallest boar, but getting him neutered when he's old enough, so he can live with my two sows. I have homes for all the others, the girls are off to live with my friend catherine and the boys with my friend rachel!

:)

Not yet.... will get on the case over the weekend, promise! (any excuse to post pics!) Only 3 weeks now till they go to their new homes. They've grown loads and got very fluffy! :smitten: :smitten:
