Hey everybody!

The last bit of hay in the bag is always really small and dusty. I can’t really put it in their hay thingy because it always falls out and spreads out all over the cage, and my piggies don’t seem to like the small pieces.
Does anyone have an idea what to do with it? It’s good hay but just very small pieces. I was thinking maybe i can make it into a snack. Looking for a recipe.

I don’t buy bagged hay anymore but when I did any of those bits got thrown away in the compost

There are ‘recipes’ but a lot of them involve blending up bananas and such like with the short strands of hay in. Therefore they become something that shouldnt be fed often and anything you make would then go off before they got anywhere near being able to use them. Can’t imagine a few weeks old mashed banana being that appetising!
If you can find one which is just hay perhaps mashing in wet/mushed pellets then it would be better (even then I can’t imagine you’d want mushy and then set pellets kicking about for long).
Remember they shouldn’t eat anything that you have to cook.
This is why most of us just get rid of it - it’s not usually worth the effort!
