Little Zeus is now over 200 g and is living with his dad Mr. muffins and his brother Mr. badger. I know that as the boys get older, they will make it clear that they cannot be together long-term. The boys are just over six weeks. badger is well over 400 g and an independent little guy. Mr. muffins follows little Zeus around the cage nonstop bothering him a little but also choosing to only cuddle with him. The bore glue that was ever present for the first week of bonding is no longer happening. Every time we take little Zeus out of the cage and put them back in Mr. muffins stocks him for a little bit quickly mount him once and then relaxes I definitely feel badly about Mr. badger being left out. It is hard to know if Mr. muffins is indicating a problem by still following little Zeus around. Mr. muffins never mounts badger. He did for the first few days, but has not since and that was weeks ago. Miss pumpkin is all by herself since we have found a wonderful home for her little girl zeus’s sister hopper. My landlord has shared that we may only keep three guinea pigs in total, but we have some time and are not rushing to find a new home for Mr. badger. I will take any guidance we can get related to figuring out how to move forward. Mr. muffins is scheduled to be neutered April 8 because it was always our intention after we learned that Mr. muffins was a mister and pumpkin, was pregnant to neuter Mr. muffins and re bond him with pumpkin. The vet shared last evening that if we got Zeus neutered when he is a bit older, there is always a small chance. He could be successful living with mom and dad and that he will always be a very little guy who is not likely to present any threat to dad. I have never seen him mount once. He is definitely a boy. I’m just at a loss because I don’t like to see badger left out and I cannot figure out a way for this little family to move forward. We love them so very much. They are all in the living room and each of them get held and lots of love from our family of four daily. Pumpkin has a 2 x 5 cc cage to herself. The boys have a 2 x 5 cage above hers. We have done so much reconfiguring of the cage with each bonding. We are open to suggestions there as well.

Someone more knowledgeable will be able to advise soon but I don't think the vet is correct about a male/male/female trio. I just wanted to congratulate you on your fabulous care. Personally I didn't think Zeus would make it but to know that he is thriving is wonderful.

I can’t thank you enough for your kind words and support. This group is the reason he made it through! He is doing amazing!

Hi

Two boars and any number of sows is a big no-no is one of the most surefire combinations for an epic fail and fall-out. The smaller the number of sows, the more are fights guaranteed.
Adding More Guinea Pigs Or Merging Pairs – What Works And What Not?

Please don't be upset about the very mild and normal behaviour from dad; he is just doing what boars do right now and things have really settled down well.

For the time being I would keep the three boars together so the brothers can learn from their dad; they are now in their 'school weeks'. Sometimes, boar trios work out but it won't show until the boys reach teenage - which is incidentally also the age when they can be neutered/de-sexed.
This gives you more time to work out which two boars will ultimately go together best: Zeus with his brother or Zeus with his dad. Personally, I would hesitate to have Zeus neutered even though he is doing well - and I know that in this lies your big heart- and headache...
