What to do?!?

Mable one of a pair of sisters sadly died yesterday. Not wanting to really think about 'replacing' her as we're still really upset, but I am in a quandry as to whats the best thing to do. Her cage mate is really grumpy and we dont know how she would react to a new friend. What do people suggest? we tried to introduce the pair to another pair but it didnt go well so they were until now living quite happily as two pairs. Its mean to keep her on her own isnt it? but I dont want for a new bonding to not work.... advice welcomed x

I am so sorry for your loss. Rescues offer a dating service were the piggy can choose their own friend. This stops any chances of having two that do not get along. It is better for Mabel to have a friend as guinea pigs get very lonely and sad living alone. I would contact local rescues and ask about their dating service.

Thanks for the post. Sorry maybes I wasnt clear, its Mabel thats died - Mildred is the lonely one thats left behind.
I had kinda heard about the piggy dating - will enquire. I have an awful feeling she wont take to any of them hehe! x

Oh gosh I am so sorry for making such a stupid mistake. Mildred may even take to a neutered boar.

Sorry to hear you lost Mable, We have the same problem with our boar, he won't take to any other piggies so he has to be alone, we have put his cage next to our other pigs though, just so he's not AS lonely. Hope you find a friend for Mildred x
