Ok so my sister has been texting me telling me about someone she works with who's grandaughter has guinea pigs. They are boars and are both neutered and she says they fight constantly. I told her to tell her that they'll need to be seperated in that case because they'll end up either seriously injuring each other or worse could end up killing each other. She's been told from the person that she works with that she can't be bothered with them anymore so wouldn't go to the cost of getting another cage and said "they'll probably end up dead like the others in any case"

I dont know what to do, I'd hate to think those poor things would come to any harm but I dont know this person to get in touch with them.

Why do people get pets if they aren't prepared to take care of them :tickedoff:

Cant you just get your sister to tell the grandma you could take the boars...

Maybe explain it could cost a lot in vets bills, wont be nice for the kids, is cruel to the animals...etc etc...

Even if you cant keep them, you could say you will and rehome them yourself, or a rescue would rehome them :)

Text your sister & get her to tell the woman that you will have the piggies if the Grand daughter doesn't want them any more (which she obviously doesn't) >:(

Surely she will be glad to let someone who will love them have them.

Well I would love to take them, I just dont know whether we could keep them permanantly or not. We have a spare hutch ( the girls now have a 4 * 3 c&c cage instead). Just with them fighting all the time I dont know how comfortable I'd be having them share the hutch, especially because I'm out to work all day so I'm not around to keep an eye on them.

I dont think they're bothered if they die or not, from the sounds of it its happened a few times in the past due to neglect.

Why not ask your sister for the number of the grandmother and you could talk to her yourself?

I'm going to ring my sister tonight to try and find out more info, I find it hard to believe that if she can't be bothered to take care of them that she'd pay to get them both neutered.

Maybe shes just ill educated, tell her to come on here! ;D

Just putting a divider in the cage would be enough to make the situation a bit better!

I know, but I dont know what size cage they have and whether it would be feesable, she did say that she can't be bothered with them anymore and is thinking about getting rid of them so I dont think she'd go to the effort.

where abouts are you? I am certain there will be people on here willing to take them in if needs be O0

I live in chester le street in Durham, I'm not sure where abouts this other person lives though.

Your first post said they are both neutered could you not give them a couple of girlfriends each and have two trios ;)
