I really want to give a home to a sheltie or coronet (sow) but cant find one in rescue and there are hardly any rescues near me anyway. The only ones I can find are from breeders (dont jump on me). This is the last piggie I'm allowed to have for a while so I want it to be the one I have always wanted. I know this probably sounds really selfish of me :red What would you do?

Have you searched your local RSPCA websites?

I personally would wait until one comes along, I know Sophie in Norfolk has alot of shelties and coronets, maybe people could form a piggie train to get one to you?
Also the 30 piggies rescued from Peterborough were virtually all Shelties and Coronets, I am sure a fosterer of some of these gorgeous piggies is nearby....

anyone?

I had hoped for one of these but think Norfolk is too far from me to be considered. Its a 2 hour drive from where I live which would be a 4 hour round trip :( unless any of the fosterers are closer. I know in my heart I will wait for one to come along, I'm just impatient :red

You could contact Sophie as she often travels to Cambridge which isn't that far from Rutland. If she allowed a piggy train then my parents dont live that far from you either and I often travel your way from Norfolk.

Good luck! I have 3 Sheltie Sows and 2 Coronet Boars and they are a wonderful breed. :)

Been chatting to a girl I used to work with and she said one of her colleagues is moving abroad and has 4 guinea pigs and they are long haired (she isnt sure whether they are sheltie/coronet/peruvian as she doesnt know about breeds) but she is going to ask her what she is doing about the piggies and let me know. I have also emailed Hopper Haven to see if they would consider me even though I am far away

Good luck!

I've grown up with coronets, and they were all so lovely!

Thanks hun, I imagine the lady with the 4 pigs will have something organised for pigs already as she has known she is moving for a while apparently but no harm in asking. Thought I might aswell ask Hopper Haven too, all they can say is no eh! :) If you dont ask you dont get!

Just an update, the lady with the 4 pigs was leaving them with her mother but has said she will give me one or two of them if I want to pop along and see her so going to see her sometime over the weekend. Two of them are coronet x)

That's good - sorry, was offline yesterday so only just got your pm, but all of our long-hairs have been rehomed now anyway! Look forward to seeing pics of your new girls

Sophie
