hi,
have 2 guinea pigs zoe and jessie, and a bunny faline that thinks its a dog, we feed them spinach, silverbeet, brocoli, parsley, grass, carrots, carrot tops, celery, grass, dandelions. they DON'T get dry food as was told it has no nutritional value and the girls put on weight. was told it was like feeding a child icecream. some one mentioned oxbrand pellets. where do i get these? i am in aussie land. have seen genetic brand, peters recommended by rspca, and dr harry coopers brand(aussie vet). also the girls have decided NOT to eat spinach and silverbeet anymore, so was wondering what to feed them to replace them. no are not allowed sweets as a month ago zoe had a trace of sugar in her urine. zoe has also just had surgery to remove her reproduction organs and a tumour in her uterus.
have tried cucumber, snow peas, beans but won't touch them. any suggestions would be appreciated. remeber but we is in aussie land and so things may not be available here. thank you for reading this. :smitten: :)

My girls are the fussy ones too - the boys will eat anything but they girls look at me like I'm trying to poison them :smitten: I not sure about the dried food issue, I'm sure someone more knowledgable will provide more info. Have you tried lettuce? My girls love it. Cabbage is another my girls eat. They're quite fond of dried birch leaves (they were in a mix I bought them for xmas and they wild for it) but I'm not sure how helpful that is.

Oxbow cavy Cuisine is ideal for pigs because it doesn't contain alfalfa :) If you contact Oxbow they can put you in touch with a supplier near to you if there is one :)

hello,
so far have tried the girls on peaches, plums and bean shoots. the novelty of the bean shoots has worn off as for the peaches and plums i got looks as if to say ypou have to be kidding, i'm not eating that! even from faline the rabbit! still looking for good guinea pigs at present giving them normal lucerne pellets around 50 pellets a day.
will go shopping tomorrow(monday) and buy the girls something else on the list of food for guinea pigs. at least hubby can eat the plums and i can eat the peaches, bean shoots? well will think on that one.
enjoy your saturday night. we beat these girls yet and their fussiness! :-\ :-\ :)
