I adopted 2 male guinea pigs yesterday and from their size and weight they appear fully grown but on the adoption forms it says age unknown. Will this be a problem in terms of feeding requirements?

At the moment I have given them unlimited hay but it says on the pellet food to give between 30-50g per pig which I thought was rather a lot so I have just given 2 bowls of 30g for all day. Is this the right thing to do?

I have read the veggie lists on the forum but I'm not sure what I should be feeding and how much per day for 2 pigs in order to give them a varied and healthy diet. Does anyone have a chart or list on what veggies they feed per day?

With pellets less is better than more.

My piggies breakdown of food per day is:-

Romaine 1 leaf
Spinach approx 8 leaves
Kale 1 handful
Carrot 2 slices
Cucumber 4 slices
Celery 8 slices
Coriander 4 pieces
Pea shoots 4 pieces
Water Cress 4 pieces
Melon Skin with a little flesh 4 pieces about size of thumb nail
Garden mint 4 leaves
Cherry tomato 1

The above is shared between 2 meals morning & evening.

They also get left over veggies when preparing meals eg broccoli, cauliflower & leaves, a little cabbage.

Thanks for the info. I am definitely going to give my piggies more variety.

I will try to cut down on the pellets eventually because if I did that straight away then I wouldn't be very popular.
