I'll be getting guinea pigs from my local Petco fairly soon (we don't have any local shelters), and the employees don't know the age of the piggies. They're clearly not fully grown yet, but since I don't know their age range, I don't know what and how much to feed them.
This is my first time owning cavies, and I've researched enough to know that they need Timothy hay/Orchard grass, Timothy pellets, and about a cup of green veggies per day. I assume that since they're still juveniles, they shouldn't have as many pellets and veggies as I would give them when they're adults.
I also know that pups and pregnant sows should have alfalfa hay, but again, I don't know if the pigs I'm getting are too old for alfalfa.
Any advice on how I can judge their age range and, based upon that, how much I should feed them?
