Came home to a very timid pig who seemed out of sorts. Checked him over and found 2 bites :( is there anything I can put on them? Or are they best left alone. Ive removed him from the cage and put him in a spare cage I have. Hes eating and seems glad of the peace. The dominant pig has been causing minor tiffs for a few days but first actual fight :(

You can disinfect the bites with some saline solution (1 tsp of salt dissolved in 1 pint of boiled, cooled water). However, you may want to have the bites checked by a vet, especially if they are pretty deep. Your poor boy may need an antibiotic to prevent an abscess. I would also recommend to keep an eye on the bites over the next few weeks for that reason.

I am very sorry about the fall-out. Unfortunately, after a serious fight like that, boars will rarely go back together again. It must have come as quite a shockto you! :(

Sorry to hear about the fight. I have come home to Piglet torn up because George broke through the barrier. Granted Piglet was in very bad shape, so we rushed to the vet. They shaved his back, and gave us antibiotics and chlorhexidrine (hibiscrub) to put on the wounds. Fortunately he healed without any infection setting in. If you are worried, by all means see the vet.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Its not nice when piggies fight. Ive been through this before with my boys 5 years ago. My poor tiger had an absess but luckily it cleared with some antibiotics and some salt water bathing!

Oh dear what a shame for you, these things happen. I think it's best to bathe with saline and then get the vets to clean out properly tomorrow. They can then decide if needs antibiotics.

When we had this issue we did as everyone has said, saline and vets! Fingers crossed they are not too deep but i can't imagine its too nice, poor pig. Blimey I remember the time my finger was mistaken for a piece of carrot!...
