We've had Kitty and Nancy for a month now and have taught them both to do a circle for a treat. They caught on very fast, I was surprised. :D

What are some other tricks or what tricks have you taught your pigs?

We haven't taught our piggies any tricks, we think it's the other way about.. :lol!:

We have tagged @theoretikos as she has had some success with teaching her piggies to play some games.

Lisa & Ali..

Nice! I'm working on uh uh uh when she nibbles a little too hard.

She's a very licky Kitty lol. Which I kind of like :) if I give her an Eskimo kiss she licks my nose.

Hi!

I have managed to teach the boys how to stand on their back legs for a treat by saying up and putting a treat above their heads.
I have also made a little thing for them to jump over. I move the treat over where they have to jump and say 'jump'.

I tried teaching 'spin' but it failed!

Green bell pepper seems to get them to understand what to do :D

I have tried filming it for the forum but have had no success.

Mine beg for food although this was an accidental trick. We also taught them nose trick, :)

I taught my boys a few tricks, begging on hind legs (not exactly hard) XD Spin one direction, turn the other, jump through a hoop, and ring a bell. They know their individual names and Ernie delivers kisses on command but Eric refuses to kiss a human.
I have been trying to teach them to weave between poles like dogs do, and jump jumps show jumping style but they keep getting in each others way.
Here's video of them performing;

Eric:

Ernie is a much quicker learner than Eric and keener to do training, Eric seems to have learned most of the tricks by watching Ernie. :)
Try and teach each pig individually at first so they don't get confused if one does it and the other doesn't.
Have fun! :)

@shiro Great videos and smart boys!

I am finding it hard teaching separately as my boys will stand on top of each other and headbutt to get the treats. Grr!

@KittyandNancy I think the hoop is a Frisbee, I got it free years ago at some promotional event.
It just takes a bit of patience and lots of treats to train pigs. Instead of just giving them their daily veg on a dish, cut it up small and use it for rewards. If you do a little bit of training every day they soon get to knowing the trick. Most of the tricks took a week at most for Ernie to learn, but Eric was slower to catch on.

Eric and Ernie are my first guinea pigs and it constantly surprises me how smart they are. :)

@theoretikos LOL yup that's the trouble I've been having with teaching mine show jumping, they both come from different sides, jumping over to get the treat and crash in the middle. XD"

Mine don't really know any tricks as such but Millie Moo comes running for her meds when I call her. Think she must know her name or the sound of it as 8 others have meds at the same time so it's not like she knows the syringe is hers.

Bramble comes when called and goes back to her cage when I say 'Back'.
She knows up means to come onto my legs for food. Thats about it tbh....

Walter does "up up" hind legs. Gus tried this but he's a bit heavier so tends to just stand on things taller than him so I taught him "round round" :)

i've been training my little silly to do tricks over the last few months, and now he can do 15 different tricks. my other three guineas, rainbow, jellybean, and flower, each perform a trick at the end of the video. :P i'm so proud of my little guys and it's so much fun to train them everyday.

What clever pigs, gorgeous too!

I wont tell you the stink eye I got yesterday when I attempted a training session. It was enough to make anyone cower :yikes:. Clearly they believe they are too posh for tricks. They are now on detention. :box:
